On February 15, 2022, as part of the Energy Week Uzbekistan at World Expo 2020 (Dubai, UAE), representatives of Uzbekistan GTL held a business meeting with a delegation of Honeywell UOP (USA). Further to the meeting, the companies signed a Memorandum of Cooperation.

It is intended to construct a linear alkylbenzenes production facility with a capacity of up to 100 thousand tons per year, based at the GTL Plant in Uzbekistan. By-products generated during the GTL kerosene production will be used as a raw material for the new production.

Linear alkylbenzene is the key raw material for production of all types of detergents from liquid soaps to washing powders. To date, the detergent market is one of the most dynamically developing markets which is seeing a strong growth in demand for LAB both domestically and in the CIS countries.
The signed memorandum provides for expansion of cooperation between Uzbekistan GTL and Honeywell UOP and joint development of technical, economic, licensing and other documents for setting up the new production.

Earlier, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, at the opening ceremony of Uzbekistan GTL complex for production of synthetic liquid fuel, instructed to set up new satellite production facilities around the Plant, as part of the unified petrochemical cluster under construction. The promising project for setting up production of linear alkylbenzenes based at Uzbekistan GTL Plant was presented to the President of Uzbekistan during the opening ceremony. Implementation of this project will enable the country to localize completely production of raw materials for detergents, as well as to arrange its export.
